TerraPower: Moving Magnet Pump (MMP) & Plugging Meter
A plugging meter and a circulation pump (MMP-type) were design, built, tested, and delivered to TerraPower in the first-half of 2022.
A custom moving magnet pump (MMP) with a small, 8" diameter duct. The pump is rated for 400[°C] and 30 [PSIG] conditions but is expected to operate in the 100-400 [°C] and 0.05-1 [GPM] regime.
A plugging meter for the TerraPower sodium system prior to shipment.
Oregon State University: Sodium Pumps, Flowmeters, & Impurity Diagnostics
Designed and built components for a diagnostic loop (cold trap, plugging meter, flowmeter, etc.). A moving magnet pump (MMP) and a DC conduction pump were also made for this system.
A moving magnet pump (MMP) for an upcoming sodium system. This pump is rated for 550 [°C] and ~ 40 [psid] @ 20 [gpm].
A permanent magnet flowmeter capable of operating at 550 [°C].
University of Wisconsin - Madison: Sodium Pumps & Flowmeters
Modeling a series of electromagnetic pumps using finite element analysis (FEA) software. Experiments have shown that permanent magnet flowmeters could be numerically calibrated.
Induced voltage in an MMP assuming a static B-field.
The steady-state potential distribution in an EM flowmeter.
Georgia Tech: MMP for Molten Tin
A custom moving magnet pump (MMP) was designed for Georgia Tech. This non-contact pump was intended to operate at high-temperatures (Tin > 1000 [°C]). Due to material compatibility issues, the pump duct was designed to be made from ceramic.
